There were 54 competitors in the 1:8 and 1:10 classes at Round 3 of the Austrian VF championship in Amstetten. It was a ‶hot※ race in the true sense of the word, not only gecause of the high ambient temperature of 33 degrees. The grip conditions were very good, and active competition (Singer, Hubeny, Kandelhart) made me attend this championship. We are going with EFRA regulations.

On Saturday the day started with sectional training and yes I had quite some problems to stay with the other guys especially as the grip conditions changed a lot because of the new rule regarding ‶Tyre Additive※ which started this year. Currently I am simply lacking the experience on this. At the end of the 7-minute qualification runs, I succeeded to claim the pole position ahead of Hubeny, Singer, Engel, and Kandelhart (all XRAY).

At the 20-minute half-final, Singer (who was highly motivated) put me under pressure. I was able to defeat the pole position with a commanding lead of one lap ahead of Singer who got 2nd place.

At the 45-minute final I started very unhurried and let Singer and Hubeny take the lead as I was expecting tyre wear. At the end I was rewarded for my decision. With a lead of 6 rounds on my teammates Singer, Hubeny, and Kandelhart (all within the same round) I was able to win the grand final without any great effort.

Result:

1. HUBER Manuel XRAY NT1
